Union Kit Speculation Time!
By: Andrew | August 20th, 2009
One has to wonder if the jersey design for the Union has been leaked, in a sense, by none other than the front office. The banners and flags used at the team name/logo unveiling were stunning (too bad I couldn’t get them with a five-finger discount). The background of the Philadelphia Union Brand Narrative uses the same design.
Could these be a foreshadowing of things to come? Afterall, a very popular choice among the fans for the Union jersey is something akin to Ajax’s home jersey, Germany’s away jersey, or even the Crew’s away jersey – all three produced by Adidas, by the way – a solid color field containing a bold central vertical stripe. It would be an instant classic, something very iconic and recognizable in the crowd of some plain, cookie-cutter type jerseys throughout the league.
Sources close to both the team and Adidas have implied that, yes, this is most likely the design for the Union’s home (navy with gold stripe) and away (gold with navy stripe) jerseys. Maybe they’ll even work in some of that sky blue piping as well.

I like what the Philly franchise has done so far. I’m sure the kits will look great, too, unless for some strange reason Brad Lidge decides to wear one.

Should look awesome either way.

SOLID GOLD AWAY JERSEY. I HOPE IT HAPPENS.

Just like Sport Recife had last season in the Brasileirao…
