Hackworth as Union Assistant?

By: Andrew | September 3rd, 2009

On his blog yesterday, Ives Galarcep reported that current U.S. National team assistant coach and technical director of the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Bradenton Academy, John Hackworth will be the next member of the Union coaching staff, coming on board as the assistant coach.

Hackworth worked with Piotr Nowak when both gentlemen were assistant coaches of Bob Bradley. Hackworth’s other experience includes the head coaching position at the University of South Florida and head coach of the U.S. U-17 squad, guiding them in both the 2005 and 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. It’s a positive sign for the team when the head honcho is bringing in staff whom he worked with closely in the past.
