And So It Begins

Califf-training Today marks the second day the team’s training sessions – running, stretching exercises, weight training – as they prepare for First Kick less than 2 months from now. Seattle, you have been warned.

A handful of players are/will be missing from these sessions due to international duty – Okugo and McInerney are with the under-20s right now down in Mexico, Moreno is with the Venezuelan team, and Thomas is playing for the Jamaican squad. It does warm my heart to see the team coming together, and bigger-name players (Fred, Califf, etc) training alongside the rookies (Mwanga, Stahl, Perk, etc), all wearing the Union crest proudly on their chests.

Read more about the training sessions by Andy Jasner on MLSnet.com and the Union website:

The Union looks like it has a lot of experienced and international level payers alongside some good rookies. I have a sneaking suspicion that one or more “old” MLS franchises are going to get a wake up call in one of the early matches against the Union. Not sure if they can do as well as Seattle did last year, but I think the Union is looking to do more than just show up at matches. Preseason will be interesting to keep an eye on.

The layout for http://philly.theoffside.com/union-players/and-so-it-begins.html is a bit off in Galeon. Even So I like your site. I may have to install a “normal” browser just to enjoy it. :)
